Indoor window furnishing has some benefit reducing unwanted heat transfer in Summer and can be very effective at preventing loss of heat in Winter by shielding heated internal air from cold window surfaces. Historically, lined curtains and pelmets work the best for this purpose, preventing up to 60 per cent of heat loss, but more recently close fitting blinds made from materials with insulative qualities have become available from major retailers.
