Sealing gaps

This may seem like a trivial issue but it is amazing how much comfort (heating and cooling) can be lost to common air gaps around the house. Ideally, the house design you choose allows you to create smaller zones within the floor space so that you are only heating and cooling the necessary areas. It is then important to make sure that your most important heating and cooling zones are effectively sealed so that the warm (or cool) air stays in. Doors and windows are the most common culprits in slab homes and can usually be addressed at low cost by applying readily available sealing strips from your local hardware store.
